Hua Siong College of Iloilo showcased its commitment to reading and literacy as its Red Phoenixes bagged significant awards during the Scholastic Readers Cup 2026, held on September 10 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Reception Hall.

Carrying this yearโ€™s theme, โ€œMockingjay Spark: Voices of Curiosity and Courage,โ€ the event brought together young readers in a celebration of reading, storytelling, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Both Main and Ledesco Campuses received the Scholastic Readers Cup Achievement Award after reaching the milestone of 40 or more books read.

Meanwhile, the Junior High School Department of the Main Campus secured first place in the Highest Lexile Growth category, recognizing the significant progress of its learners in reading comprehension and vocabulary development.

The recognitions highlight the growing enthusiasm of HSCI learners for reading and reflect the schoolโ€™s continued efforts to foster a culture of literacy and lifelong learning.

Through these achievements, the Red Phoenixes continue to carry the spark of curiosity and courage, turning every page into an opportunity to learn, grow, and discover. | via Khloe Ysabelle Monsale and Abigail Ong
